OpenClaw is an open-source, self-hosted AI assistant framework. You run it on your own server (VPS or Mac Mini) and interact with it through messaging apps you already use — WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Google Chat, Signal, iMessage, and Teams. It connects to your tools (Gmail, Calendar, CRM, etc.) via OAuth and can take real actions: send emails, schedule meetings, update records, and more. Think of it as an always-on AI executive assistant that runs on your infrastructure.

You absolutely can — it's open-source. But production deployment involves more than 'git clone'. You need VPS provisioning (right size, right provider, right region), Docker configuration (not just 'docker run' — proper isolation, resource limits, restart policies), Composio OAuth setup (app registration, token management, security middleware), firewall hardening (restricting outbound access, setting up exec allowlists), and cron job configuration (email triage schedules, briefing times, monitoring). Most technical founders we work with estimate 8-15 hours to get this right. We do it in 4-6 hours because we've done it dozens of times.

Everything needed for a production deployment: (1) VPS provisioning on your preferred provider (DigitalOcean, Hetzner, AWS, etc.), (2) Docker container configuration with proper isolation, (3) OpenClaw installation and configuration, (4) Composio OAuth setup for all your tool integrations, (5) Firewall rules and exec allowlists, (6) Cron job setup for scheduled tasks, (7) Messaging app connections (WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, etc.), (8) Initial behavior tuning (triage rules, briefing schedules), and (9) 14-day hypercare monitoring where we actively tune and fix issues.

Any provider that offers Linux VPS instances. Most clients use DigitalOcean, Hetzner, or AWS Lightsail. We also support deployments on Mac Mini for clients who want to keep everything on-premise. During the kickoff call we'll recommend the right provider and server spec for your use case.

Yes. Many clients start with setup-only ($520) and add managed care within the first month. We'll onboard your existing deployment — review the configuration, set up our monitoring, and take over maintenance. No need to redeploy.

For 14 days after deployment, we actively monitor your OpenClaw instance: cron job execution, error rates, resource usage, and integration health. We tune triage rules based on how you actually use the assistant. If something breaks, we fix it proactively. By day 14, your assistant should be well-calibrated to your workflow.

OpenClaw releases updates regularly. On managed care, we handle all updates — testing them first, then deploying with zero-downtime rollouts. Without managed care, you handle updates yourself (we provide documentation). We never auto-update without testing first.
